Art Department Scholarships 2021

  • Art Department Scholarships and Awards

    Please submit 4-5 well-documented works. Image files should be 9” X 12” inches @ 72dpi .jpg RGB. These 4-5 works should represent your current field of study. The submitted works can be personal or class projects.

    Please select one or more of the following scholarships to apply for based on the qualifying criteria.

  • Note: Art Department Scholarships and Awards are open only to Department of Art full-time students. The Art Department scholarship application and submission process are made entirely online. We cannot accept any applications or supporting files that are not submitted online. The deadline to apply for all Art Department Scholarships and Awards is the end of the day (11:59 pm) on Saturday, March 20th, 2021. No late submissions after the deadline will be accepted. Incomplete applications that are not completed by the deadline will be eliminated from further consideration. All Scholarship and Award applicants will be contacted via email regarding the status of your application. All Scholarship and Award recipients will be celebrated at our annual Scholarships and Awards Ceremony. (Note: Date, Time, and Location are still pending.) Unless otherwise specified, all scholarships and awards are for the next academic year. Scholarships and awards of $2,000 or more will be divided between the Fall and Spring semesters unless the recipient is graduating in the Fall semester. For awards given to graduating seniors, the funds should be processed by June 30th. All other Scholarship and Award funds will be disbursed to each student's CSUN account by the end of August. "Financial Needs-Based" Scholarships and Awards require demonstrated financial need, as determined by the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). All applicants for Financial Needs-Based scholarships and awards MUST have a FAFSA on file with the CSUN Financial Aid Office. Recipients will be pre-qualified by the CSUN Financial Aid Office. They will not have their financial aid reduced unless the scholarship or award amount exceeds your total calculated financial need.
  • Art Work Submissions

    1. An artist statement OR narrative description of creative process OR statement of art historical research. PDF or word document ok.

    2. Resume that details your activities related to art, design, or art history, including: presentations, exhibitions, awards, internships, community service learning, volunteerism, organizations/clubs, and any other related activity. Resume text must be in a legible typeface and readable point size. PDF or word document ok.

    3. If you are an art historian, submit one research paper. PDF or word document ok.

    4. If you are a Visual Artist, Artwork Submission Guidelines listed below (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY) If you have any questions please email: erik.sandberg@csun.edu

       a. Please submit 4-5 well-documented works. Image files should be 9” X 12” inches @ 72dpi .jpg RGB. These 4-5 works should represent your current field of study. The submitted works can be personal or class projects.

       b. Label and number each file as follows and submit a word document with a list detailing title, size, and medium for each work submitted. Please use the following file labeling: LastName_FirstName_2021_01, LastName_FirstName_2021_02, LastName_FirstName_2021_03, LastName_FirstName_2021_04, etc

       c. For time-based media provide a URL link to your video via youtube.com or vimeo.com. Please include a word document that indicates the title and medium for each work if more description is necessary.

    PLEASE NOTE: Do not submit multiple examples of the same project. An explanation of the work is optional.

    SUBMISSION AND DEADLINE: Submit to Art Department through this form by SATURDAY, MARCH 20TH, 2021 at 11:59pm.

    PLEASE NOTE: IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU COMPRESS YOUR FOLDER SO THAT YOU ONLY UPLOAD 1 FILE. (i.e. Last_name_First_name.zip file)

    Double Check your Final .zip file size as it should be less than 10MB. Anything larger may create problems.
  • Please make sure to make your file links public or allow download to exist beyond the deadline date.
